The San Francisco-based original of "The Princess Diaries" is about to receive a new installment.

Another chapter of the Disney film with a San Francisco

setting that inspired a thousand sleepovers is ready to be released.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "The Princess Diaries 3

a follow-up to the successful movies that launched a young Anne Hathaway's 

 cinematic career, is in the early stages of development. 

Television writer Aadrita Mukerji ("Supergirl") is working on the script.

 The project will also see the return of Debra Martin Chase, 

 who produced the previous two "Princess Diaries" films.
