Pinocchio Trailer: Oscar-winning Director's Reimagining of Classic Hits Coming to Netflix Next Month

The official trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio debuted on Wednesday,

a week before the film's December 9 Netflix debut following a limited theatrical release.

The film's trailer, which adapts the beloved Carlo

Collodi fairy tale and places it in Mussolini's Italy

is blatantly influenced by del Toro. With its tale revisions,

creatures with overtones of Pan's Labyrinth,

and carnival scenes that would have felt at home in Nightmare Alley,

the stop-motion animation, which he co-directed with Mark Gustafson,

lends itself to the Oscar-winning director's eye for detail.
